Antioxidants – Anti = against, Oxidants = Oxidative stress or Oxidation which is caused by free radicals.
Free radicals (which we are all subject to on a day to day basis from environmental toxins e.g. pollution, from household chemicals, cigarette smoke, alcohol, and some foods e.g. fats, processed meats) can damage our cells and DNA which can lead to several negative outcomes incl. early aging and cancer.
