Health Benefits of Purslane

Antioxidants:

Antioxidants – Anti = against, Oxidants = Oxidative stress or Oxidation which is caused by free radicals.
Free radicals (which we are all subject to on a day to day basis from environmental toxins e.g. pollution, from household chemicals, cigarette smoke, alcohol, and some foods e.g. fats, processed meats) can damage our cells and DNA which can lead to several negative outcomes incl. early aging and cancer.
Antioxidants bind with free radicals and excrete them from our body, meaning they do not cause damage in the body. Antioxidants refer to Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Vitamin E

Omega-3 Fatty Acids:
Omega-3 helps to maintain low levels of inflammation in the body. Inflammation is thought to be involved in the development and persistence of a number of acute and chronic physical and mental illnesses including obesity, Cardiovascular disease (includes High Blood Pressure, Heart Disease, Stroke), Dementia (includes Alzheimer’s), Depression, Arthritis, Asthma and many more.
By ensuring that you consume adequate amounts of omega-3 fatty acids, you will reduce the levels of inflammation in the body thus helping to prevent against the development of, as well as reduce the severity of and help to treat, these health conditions
In essence, they promote bone and joint health, heart health, brain function and brain health!
