For strawberries, the mats keep the lower leaves and fruit clean and dry keeping the soft fruit free from botrytis – a grey mould. Mulch Mats are best to be used with strawberries when the leaves are growing well and flowers are beginning to appear. Mulch Mats can also protect lettuces from slug invasion when leaves start to grow and shrubs and roses after planting. Easy-to-use, after planting and watering plants carefully level the soil around the base. Holding the leaves carefully from the ground, the mat can be easily slid into place under the leaves.

Cabbage Root Fly are a serious threat for brassicas such as cabbage, cauliflower, brussels sprouts and broccoli, weakening the plants and reducing the strength of the crop. Cabbage Collars prevent the adult fly laying eggs at the base of the plant preventing the creation of maggots. It is the presence of maggots which cause the damage as they burrow into the stem and roots to eat. By placing a Cabbage Collar around the root, the adult fly is unable to lay eggs warding off an infestation. Easy-to-use. Slide the collar around the stem. As the stem thickens, the Cabbage Collar will open to prevent restricted growth. Suitable for environmentally-conscious gardeners.
Vitax Box Tree Moth Trap
consists of a trap with 2 pheromone lures to attract the male box tree moths, monitoring and helping control this serious pest. The lure attracts male moths which then drop through the funnel into the trap. Minor infestations may be adequately controlled by preventing males from mating with female moths. This then prevents the next generation of caterpillars destroying the box plant. For severe infestations the monitoring trap provides warning of infestation allowing timely control measures to be introduced.
The box tree moth is generally active from mid-April to October, peaking between mid-July to the end of September. The moth has a wingspan of 38-40mm with white wings with a broad bronze brown border. Occasionally the wings can be almost entirely brown with a couple of white spots on the forewing. There can be up to 3 generations of caterpillars during the season. Trap protects up to 200m2. Will not harm beneficial insects. Bird friendly glue free trap
