Marguerites
Native to the Canary Islands, the marguerite daisy is a mounded and shrubby annual. They can grow in a pot or a garden as flower borders or ground cover. They enjoy the British climate from Spring and survive well in temperatures 4C - 21C and flower April to September.
Planting and Care
Regular dead-heading will encourage the growth of new flowers
Adding mulch**, manure or other forms of organic fertiliser to the soil before planting can also help to promote strong, healthy flowers
Position in full sun
If the temperature drops you can cover them with fleece or newspaper, or bring pots indoors.
On very hot days they will need to have afternoon shade - so have a think before you plant. Pots are ideal so you can move them if they struggle.
Well drained, moderately fertile soil
Take cuttings to ensure against winter losses, however even if top growth is damaged by the frost, the plants often re-grow from the base in spring.
